Tournament 2013

The first edition of Katowice WTA tournament was opened with a special show with the participation of famous Polish double players: Marcin Fyrstenberg and Mariusz Matkowski. A special guest of BNP Paribas Katowice Open 2013 was also Agnieszka Radwańska who played with Marta Domachowska in a spectacular double match. Jerzy Janowicz, Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Wojciech Fibak who enthusiastically commented on what was happening on the courts during show matches performed their original roles as masters of ceremonies. The last day of the tournament brought the largest deal of emotions when the final matches were played. The double match was won by a Spanish duet of Arruabarrena and Dominguez Lino defeating Olaru from Romania and Solovyeva from Russia. In the final match of the single tournament played Petra Kvitova from the Czech Republic and Roberta Vinci from Italy. The best player of BNP Paribas Katowice Open proved Roberta Vinci.

Court emotions were accompanied by many side events. During the autograph sessions Sabine Lisicki, Alize Cornet, Agnieszka Radwańska, Alexandra Cadantu, Annika Beck and others met tennis fans. Attractions for children were not missing either with KIDS CUP as the biggest of them.

BNP Paribas Katowice Open Tournament was the biggest sports event of this rank held in Poland in 2013. 250 people, including 70 volunteers and 30 children to pass balls were involved in the organisation of the event. The overall number of supporters exceeded 18,000 people and 120 reporters participating in broadcasting information from the tournament. The tournament positively echoed the whole tennis world.
